Business Development Executive
The Gilbert Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organization whose mission is to proactively serve as the business advocate to strengthen the business climate in Gilbert. The Chamber serves as a catalyst for growth within the local business community. We solve the challenges that business leaders face. By bringing community influencers together and supporting business-friendly initiatives, we can inspire business leaders, raise the next generation of local leadership, and build a stronger Gilbert. The Gilbert Chamber of Commerce Foundation was established in 2016 and is dedicated to advancing the quality of life in Gilbert through education, leadership, and community enhancement.
Position: A Membership Development Executive reports to the Chamber President/CEO and will work in a team environment to guide relationships with Gilbert Chamber members, including initial sales, retention, and ongoing review of memberships and sponsorships.
Job Description: A Business Development Executive is responsible for achieving the highest revenue potential for the Gilbert Chamber through mutually beneficial and sustained relationships with our membership and engagement with the broadest possible sphere of Gilbert-area businesses. This position will join a Business Development team to actively promote the value, benefits, services, and programs of the Chamber and Chamber Foundation to member and non-member businesses and is responsible for meeting the new member, retention, sponsorship, and donation goals as set forth by the annual business plan and approved by the Board of Directors. A Business Development Executive works with other members of the Business Development Team to:
- Meet the annual budgeted income goals of new membership investments from non-member businesses, retention of current member businesses and management of collection on past due accounts, sales of sponsorships for events and programs on behalf of both the Chamber and the Chamber Foundation, and donations and contributions to the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce Foundation.
- Deliver an annual budget for projects and events in this division and ensure that the budget is met. This includes an annual review of sponsorship levels and securing sponsorships and attendance goals to meet the approved budget.
- Analyze the Gilbert Chamber’s current membership sales and retention processes and develop new in-person and online strategies for growing the membership base and increasing revenue generation.
- Host membership orientation (Chamber Accelerator) events in support of sales efforts.
- Manage the Ambassador Committee.
- Manage Referral Teams and serve as the staff liaison to two teams.
- Attend and provide support for the onsite execution of the Chamber and Chamber Foundation’s signature events.
- Collaborate with all staff members to deliver an excellent member experience via networking events, marketing opportunities, and member communications.
- Attend or participate in at least one professional development activity each fiscal year. This may include an industry conference or webinar training, etc.
- Other duties may be assigned by the President/CEO. Reports to the President/CEO.
- Non-profit business development experience preferred.
- Minimum three years’ work-related sales experience.
- Strong time and task management skills.
- Experience working with diverse groups of partners and stakeholders.
- Strong presentation, written, verbal, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to successfully manage multiple projects.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service and be a team player.
- Must be a self-starter, detail-oriented, and a reliable business professional.
- Experience using a CRM or other customer management software to manage prospects and lead generation.
Benefits: This is a salaried exempt position on the organization’s leadership team. It offers full benefits, including paid time off, a 401k, and health insurance.
- Paid holidays include New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (Thursday and Friday), Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
