Workshop: Rooted & Real: Telling Your Local Business Story (CATALYST)
Rooted & Real: Telling Your Local Business Story
So many business owners skip this part—and it’s one of the most powerful tools you’ve got.
Being local is more than just your zip code. It’s part of what makes your business special. And when you know how to talk about it, it can really set you apart. In this hands-on workshop, we’ll dig into why your localness matters and how to actually use it to connect with your customers, build trust, and stand out.
You’ll walk away with a filled-out worksheet that helps you tell your business story in a real, personal way—something you can use at markets, in your marketing, and in everyday conversations.
This workshop is for all kinds of businesses—whether you sell products, services, or something in between. If you're building something local, this is for you.
Facilitated by Alyssa Prewitt with Local First
Alyssa Prewitt is a proud Arizona native and longtime Gilbert resident who’s loved watching her community grow over the past decade. As Director of Coalition Resources at Local First Arizona, she works closely with locally owned businesses to deepen connections and open doors to meaningful opportunities. Her background in storytelling and small business support helps her build trust, spark ideas, and move projects forward with intention. Alyssa loves helping entrepreneurs feel seen and supported. Outside of work, she runs Twice Upon a Time Books, a Gilbert-based side business that pairs readers with surprise pre-loved books. Most days, you’ll find her chasing after her two boys or paying another visit to Rise Up Bakery (summertime ice cream sandwiches are the best!).
