DESCRIPTION:This session will focus on Education in Gilbert. Lesson's learned from the pandemic and what to expect as we move forward.\n\n\n\nThis event is for Gilbert Leadership alumni only.\n\n\n\n\n\nMum R. Martens\, Executive Director of Human Resources - Higley Unified School District\n\n \n\nOver eighteen years of experience in education\, with sixteen years working in Human Resources\, Mum R. Martens is currently the executive director of human resources for Higley Unified School District (HUSD) located in Gilbert\, Arizona in the East Valley.  HUSD is a Pre-Kindergarten through twelfth grade district made up of fifteen schools and over thirteen thousand students.  Mum is in her 4th year with HUSD and currently holds memberships in the Society for Human Resources\, the National and State associations of School Personnel Administrators\, and Arizona School Administrators.    Mum currently serves as secretary on the executive board for the Arizona School Personnel Administrators Association and is an active member of the legislative committee for the American Association of School Personnel Administrators.  \n\n \n\nAs the Chief Human Resources Officer for Oakton Community College in Des Plaines\, IL\, Mum was recognized into the American Association for Women in Community College's 40 under 40 list.  Mum currently resides in Mesa\, with her spouse\, and their two children\, ages nine and six.   \n\n\n\n\n\nSteve Tannenbaum \, Principal - Williams Field High School\n\n\n\nMr. Steve Tannenbaum has lived and worked in Arizona for most of his life. At a young age he knew that is calling was to have a career in education so he could motivate and inspire students as his teachers had mentored him. He is a product of the Arizona public school system and received his bachelors and Masters from Ottawa University in Phoenix\, Arizona. Mr. Tannenbaum then taught and coached in the Mesa school district for ten years. During his time as a teacher he had the pleasure of teaching an outreach program for Arizona State University\, called Future Sun Devil Families.\n\n\n\nFrom 2014-2017 Mr. Tannenbaum had the opportunity to become an assistant principal and then principal at Poston Butte High School. In 2017 Mr. Tannenbaum was honored to be hired as the principal of Williams Field High School part of the Higley Unified School District in Gilbert Arizona. Mr. Tannenbaum also oversees the district's International Scholars Program. He is currently serving in his fourth year as principal where he is continuing to build a culture of discipline and belonging. Mr. Tannenbaum is focused on creating a culture of college and/or work readiness\, where everyone is a learner\, everyone is a teacher\, and everyone is a leader!
